What to Expect During Infusion Sessions
The National Home Infusion Association estimates that approximately 3.2 million patients receive infusion treatments of some sort every year. We know that sitting through an infusion session is not always the most pleasant experience, and that’s why we strive to make it as comfortable and relaxing as possible for our patients.
Depending on the infusion services prescribed by your physician, your session may last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Your physician should provide you with an estimate beforehand to ease anxiety and allow you to prepare.
At Henry County Hospital, we want the environment you’re in to be a healing one – not only for the body, but also for the mind and spirit. In addition to continued care and support from your treatment team, you can also expect to receive the following during your session:
- A cozy recliner to lounge in for the duration of treatment
- TV access
- Music access
- Free WiFi
- Complimentary refreshments, snacks, and meals
During your infusion session, you will be closely monitored by a registered nurse, in order to make sure you are doing alright throughout your treatment. Don’t hesitate to ask your nurse for anything that may make you more comfortable during your infusion session – we’re all here to help!
