Nurse Staffing Guidelines

The staff at Henry County Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality and safest care to our patients. The nursing units are staffed with highly skilled registered nurses, and licensed practical nurse and health unit coordinators. Each unit has a written staffing plan developed to accommodate a projected average daily patient census. The patient census is reviewed each shift by a unit nurse supervisor. Staffing is adjusted as needed to meet patient needs. Nursing supervisors are on duty at all times to assist with adjusting nursing unit staffing when unexpected fluctuations in patient census or need occur. The Nursing Supervisors, Intensive Care Services Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and the Emergency Care Physicians make up the Rapid Response Team. The team is available at all times to assist the hospital staff, patients, and families with any concerns or emergent situations.

The nursing leadership staff at Henry County Hospital follows the staffing guidelines set by the American Nurses Association, Principles for Nurse Staffing, American Nurses Publishing, Washington, D.C., 1999.

The staffing plan will be provided to any person who requests it for a fee not to exceed actual copying costs. If you would like more information about these guidelines, please speak with the nurse manager on the unit or contact Administrative Services at 419-591-3837.
